Alice Koubová

Philosopher, performer

Alice Koubová works at the philosophical department of the Academy of Sciences as the lead on the project Systems of Resilience (SYRI), and teaches as art school in the Czech Republic and internationally. In the years 2021-2024, she was the vice-dean of science and research at the Theater Faculty of the Academy of Musical Arts. She is oriented primarily of the themes of resilience, political psychology, performance, ethics, and artistic research. She is the author of a number of books, Odolná společnos: Mezi bezmocí a tyranií (A resilient society: Between powerlessness and tyranny), Donald Winnicott a politická teorie (Donald Winnicott and political theory), Myslet z druhého místa: K otázce performativní filosofie, Terény performance, Self Identity and Powerlessness (Think from another space: To the question of performative philosophy, in-field performance, Self Identity and Powerlessness), and Artistic Research: Is There Some Method?. She has worked with Tantehorse since 2019 and has for a long time expanded her work in the original productions Strachy (Fears), Talking Contradictions: Buying Brass Method Re-Examined, Ticho! Filosofové po Wittgensteinovin (Silence! Philosophers after Wittgenstein), Propojme se včera (Let’s Connect Yesterday), and Děti U. She also performs in all of the listed pieces.
